Edinburgh has to be one of the best cities in the UK for a Stag Do. Easily accessible with plenty to see and do, the Scottish capital offers something for everyone’s tastes. Why not explore Edinburgh’s famous landmarks, such as Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, sample some of Scotland’s finest food and drink – Scotch whiskey anyone? – or simply dive into the city’s famously welcoming pub scene. Just don’t put the groom in a kilt – it’s been done…

Edinburgh is a great winter destination, so why not visit with the stags in November and catch the beginning of the Christmas markets?
One of Europe’s most exciting cities, Amsterdam is one of the most popular destinations for Brits going abroad – and it’s not hard to see why the city appeals to stags. But aside from the city’s most notorious neighbourhood (you know which one we mean…), the Dutch capital actually has a lot to offer stags, from city bike tours and historic walking tours to iconic museums like the Heineken Experience or the infamous Sex Museum.

A relative newcomer on the block, Riga has been drawing more and more visitors in recent years – and who can blame them? The Latvian capital is well-connected to the UK and Ireland through a host of budget airlines, prices are still comparatively low compared to other Eastern European hotspots and the country is now part of the Eurozone. But practicalities aside, this Baltic city has plenty of appeal for stags and tourists alike: picturesque cobbled streets, great comfort food and lively bars and clubs.

Prague, Czech Republic

But if none of that floats your boat, there’s still plenty to see and do – after all, Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Explore the city’s imposing castle, admire both classic and modern architecture and remember the city’s tragic history at the Prague Jewish Museum.

You might not have heard much about Budapest yet, but that will change soon; the Hungarian capital is definitely a star on the rise. Located pretty much in the centre of Europe, but easily reachable from the UK and Ireland, Budapest offers visitors something really different: the city is one of Europe’s premier spa towns, with thermal baths found almost everywhere, while ‘ruin pubs’ have sprung up in the city’s more neglected neighbourhoods, offering cool hipster hangouts in shabby-chic dive bars.
Recommended month: September
Prices in many other cities rise in September, but Budapest offers great value accommodation year-round.
